DREAM BIG
Every summer I have the pleasure to perform magic shows in many libraries in different counties throughout Florida. I am proud of the libraries and how they work hard to bring many activities to the kids, from reading nights, movies, special live events, magicians, etc. Every year the library system has a theme, and this year, 2012, is Dream Big – Read! When the librarians started contacting me to book the shows, the slogan “Dream Big – Read!" caught my attention because I'm often asked by kids and adults at the shows how I learned magic. And here is the answer: by READING. Since I was a little boy, like other kids my age, I was fascinated by the power of magic. I dreamed of being a magician some day. At that time, there was no Internet, and many magicians did not want to teach their secrets. Others were very expensive. I decided to learn magic on my own… by reading books. I spent many days and hours after school and during school vacations reading books and creating my own tricks with all the material that I had in our home. I could not wait to buy my next book to read about magic and how to make tricks. This passion for magic did not last just a few days. This passion was forever.
Books hold
the secret to making magical dreams become real. I learned magic from books from
the age of 8 onward, and years later, even after winning international
competitions, I learn what I love about magic from books. I’m a magician with a
background in philosophy, computer technology, web design, marketing and
communications. And I know how important books are to be successful in making
dreams real. People often ask me, “Did you study magic or have to go to school
to learn magic?” I went to the university, but I learned magic strictly from
books since the age of 8, and years later I wrote a book about magic cards,
"Basic card magic tricks.” Now I'm working on my second book and in this way, I
hope to pass along the dream to another generation. :0)
Dream
Big – Read! reminds me of my own dream of becoming a magician. Any dream
requires preparation -- and books are the magical element to reveal secrets
and new worlds for both kids and adults in making their dreams become
real.
